Title: Community Development Project Coordinator

Overview:
This newly created role offers the opportunity to lead impactful community initiatives in Union County, Indiana. As the Community Development Project Coordinator, you will play a critical role in fostering collaboration among local government boards, the Union County Foundation, and community stakeholders. Your efforts will focus on securing and managing funding for projects that build stronger, more sustainable communities, while aligning with the mission and goals of the Union County Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Development & Management: Research, write, and manage grant applications, ensuring compliance with funding requirements. Oversee post-award administration, including reporting and project evaluations.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with towns, county leaders, and stakeholders to identify community improvement opportunities, develop strategic plans, and position the county for long-term funding eligibility.
  • Community Advocacy: Study community needs, generate innovative solutions, and present strategies to local leaders. Provide informed recommendations to guide decision-making and help prioritize projects.
  • Ambassador Role: Represent Union County in building relationships with funders, community organizations, and regional/state agencies. Promote collaboration, goodwill, and awareness of local initiatives by attending meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Project Coordination: Serve as the primary contact for subcontractors and partners. Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables for funded projects to ensure successful implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., public administration, nonprofit management, community development) or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven success in securing grants or fundraising for community projects.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and relationship-building.
  • Experience working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with local government operations, community development, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Proficiency in research, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Collaborative mindset with creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Skills (Optional but Beneficial):

  • Knowledge of Union County and its unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Networking experience with funding entities such as state or federal grant programs.
  • Experience managing social media or public-facing communications.

Employment Details:

  • Hours: Hourly position based at the Union County Foundation with a flexible schedule of 20–35 hours per week, dependent on candidate availability. Regional travel may be required. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some evenings may be required.
  • Compensation: $21–$23 per hour, with opportunities for growth as the role evolves.
  • Location: Hybrid work options available, with a combination of in-office hours at the Union County Foundation and remote work flexibility.
